MemoryX ("we", "our", "the extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you save conversations from AI platforms and build a personal memory that works across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
1. Data Storage
MemoryX stores data in the following locations:
- Cloud storage: Your extracted facts and memories are stored in Supabase, a cloud database, so they persist across devices and browser sessions.
- Server-side tracking: Usage history (API call counts) and credit balances are tracked server-side in Supabase.
- Local storage: The extension stores session tokens and authentication state locally in
chrome.storage. - If you uninstall the extension, locally stored tokens are removed, but your cloud data remains accessible if you sign in again.
2. Data Processing with AI Providers
When you use features that require AI processing (Extract, Recall, Summarize), your browsing content is sent to our backend API, which forwards it to third-party LLM providers for real-time processing:
- Providers used: StepFun (step-3.5-flash), Moonshot (kimi-k2.5), and OpenAI (text-embedding-3-small, for memory search only).
- No model training: Your data is used solely for real-time API calls. MemoryX does not perform any model training, and our providers do not retain your data after processing.
- Minimal data sent: Only the text necessary for the specific operation is transmitted. We do not store raw conversation text on our servers.
All API communication is encrypted via HTTPS.
3. Account & Authentication
- You can sign in with email/password or Google account.
- Authentication is handled by Supabase. We store your email address and authentication tokens.
- If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. We only use your email for account identification.
4. Payment & Billing
- All payments are processed by LemonSqueezy, which acts as our Merchant of Record.
- MemoryX does not store your payment card information. All payment data is handled securely by LemonSqueezy.
- LemonSqueezy handles tax collection and regulatory compliance on our behalf.
- Subscription status and credit usage data are stored in Supabase and linked to your account.
5. Usage Tracking
We track API usage (number of extraction, recall, and summary calls per month) for quota management. This includes:
- Your user ID
- The type of API call (extract, recall, summarize)
- Timestamp and token count
We do not track which websites you visit, what you type in conversations, or any browsing behavior outside of the supported AI platforms.
6. Permissions
The extension requests these Chrome permissions:
- storage: To save your conversations and memories locally.
- tabs: To detect when you're on a supported AI platform (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).
- identity: To enable Google Sign-In.
- alarms: For periodic background tasks (auto-save timing).
- Host permissions for chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com: To inject the save button and auto-recall features on these sites.
7. Data Export & Deletion
- You can export all your data (conversations and memories) at any time from the extension's Settings.
- You can delete individual memories or clear all data from within the extension.
- Account deletion: To delete your account and all associated server-side data, contact us at the email below. You must cancel any active subscription before requesting account deletion.
- Upon account deletion, all your data is permanently removed from Supabase, including user plans, API usage records, and stored facts.
- Uninstalling the extension removes locally stored tokens and cached data.
8. Children's Privacy
MemoryX is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the extension.
10. Refund Policy
- Subscriptions: Refund amount is calculated as: payment amount x (remaining credits / total credits allocated for the billing period).
- Top-up packs: Refund is based on the proportion of remaining unused credits.
- Credits that have already been consumed are non-refundable.
- All refunds are processed through LemonSqueezy. To request a refund, contact us at the email below.
